New Release: VERITE 2015s

Verite 2015s
"Seillan said that 2015 (which was still in barrel at the time of my tasting) was the finest vintage of his lifetime, which is strong praise indeed. Certainly, he has three titanic wines aging in the wine cellars."
Robert Parker

The Verité winery is California royalty, unquestionably the finest wines made in Sonoma and with a record of critical acclaim that is unparalleled not only in California, but throughout the world.

Their 3 wines are equal in stature, each a Bordeaux-blend highlighting one of the classic varietals of Merlot, Cabernets Franc and Sauvignon, from Sonoma’s best mountain vineyards.  Pierre Seillan is the virtuoso winemaker, behind Verite since its inception in 1998.  A “terroirist”, his aim is to translate the Verité signature – the message of the soil – into the bottle.

We are delighted to offer the new releases from Verité in the stunning 2015 vintage.  For 2015 they will only be packed in a 3 bottle mixed case containing 1 of each of the Verite wines.

2015 was a hot dry summer with great variations in temperature between day and night leading to the ideal combination of ripeness and freshness, and one of the earliest harvests.  Tasting the wines last month revealed wonderfully concentrated wines with drop-dead gorgeous aromatics and thrilling acidities.  Unfortunately yields were lower than 2013 and 2014, meaning that quantities will be limited.

This a set of world-class wines available in small quantities and followed by collectors worldwide thanks to their international distribution.

1 x Le Desir
98-100 Robert Parker  "If you want to taste something that is like Château Ausone on steroids, check out the 2015 Le Désir, a blend of 64% Cabernet Franc, 26% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. This huge, ripe wine offers incredible balance, a black/purple color, a stunning nose of crushed rock, white flowers, blueberries and blackberries intermixed with incense and a forest floor component, and an extraordinary integration of tannin, acidity, wood and alcohol. This magnificent wine should age effortlessly for 35-40+ years."

100 Lisa Perrotti-Brown "A blend of 64% Cabernet Franc, 27% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Malbec, the very deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Le Désir is a little reticent at this very youthful stage, offering glimpses at dusty soil, iron ore, black truffles and salami notes over a core of red currant jelly, black raspberries, blackberries and star anise plus a waft of roses. Medium-bodied, very firm and very elegant yet incredibly intense in the mouth, it delivers loads of red fruit and earthy layers, finishing with great length and depth."

1 x La Joie
98-100 Robert Parker  "The 2015 La Joie (75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot) has an intensity that is off the charts, and that’s saying something, given how concentrated these wines tend to be. An enormous, colossal example of wine, with an opaque purple color and an intense nose of black fruits, camphor, forest floor and graphite, the wine is super-pure, very full-bodied, with intense levels of glycerin and richness. The finish goes on for a good 60+ seconds. This should turn out to be utterly profound. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2050+"

99 Lisa Perrotti-Brown "A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, the 2015 La Joie features a very deep purple-black color and almost electric nose of crushed blackcurrants, ripe black cherries and mulberries with sparks of raspberry pie, wild blueberries, unsmoked cigars, charcuterie and crushed stones. Medium to full-bodied and charged with the most amazing energy, the youthful, vibrant black-fruited palate is framed by very firm, very finely grained tannins and wonderful freshness, finishing with lingering crushed stones and earth layers."

1 x La Muse
96-99 Robert Parker  "The 2015 La Muse is a blend of 89% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 4% Malbec. Sweet notes of unsmoked cigar tobacco, mocha, espresso bean, chocolate, plum, Asian spice, blackcurrant and black cherries soar from the glass of this opaque-colored wine. It has great fruit, real sucrosity and lushness in the mid-palate, and a super-duper inner core of glycerin followed by sweet, refined tannins in the finish. It is a strikingly flashy and flamboyant style of wine that should drink well for its first 30+ years of life."

97 Lisa Perrotti-Brown "Composed of 90% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Malbec, the 2015 La Muse sports a very deep garnet-purple color, leaping from the glass with exuberant crème de cassis, blueberry pie and licorice notes plus suggestions of Indian spices, dark chocolate, menthol, sautéed herbs and potpourri. Full-bodied, rich and seductive in the mouth, it delivers tons of black and blue fruit preserves flavors, accented by exotic spices, framed with velvety tannins and finishing on a persistent earthy/mineral note."
