Vinedo Chadwick Collector's Case.jpg

While Bordeaux is still the benchmark for Cabernet Sauvignon-based blends, it now faces stiff competition.

Chile is gaining a wider audience for its cooler climate wines, offering world-class quality at still-affordable prices.  We are pleased to offer some of Chile's most exciting new releases.

Viñedo Chadwick Limited edition Collectors' Case
£540 per case 3x75cl  (1 x 2014, 2012 & 2010)

In 2004 Eduardo Chadwick held a blind tasting in Berlin for 36 critics and wine writers with the aim of changing the World's perception of Chilean wines.  The results were startling:  Vinedo Chadwick and Sena rated ahead of Lafite 2000, Margaux 2001, and also Margaux 2000 and Latour 2000.  It should come as no surprise then that 2014 Viñedo Chadwick is Chile's first wine to be rated the magic 100 points. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.  Just a few hundred cases are produced each year from this small vineyard in Puente Alto, Maipo Valley, 650 metres above sea level.

2014 - 100 points - "This is a wine that defines elegance and power at the same time. Complex aromas of blueberry, black currant and black licorice. Full body yet refined and beautiful with a stunning length and complexity. It has a transparency that shows such greatness and beauty. Half the normal production. Has an energy and brightness.  Chile's first perfect wine and well deserved. James Suckling

2012 - 97 points
- "This is a superb red with currant, white truffle, sandalwood and stone. Full body, chewy tannins and a powerful finish. Turns to iodine. Gravel and hints of licorice too. Very, very long. This IS the La Mission Haut Brion of Chile. A phenomenal cabernet sauvignon. Needs at least five years to soften. 800 cases. Wait until 2018."  James Suckling

2010 - 95 points - "A racy cabernet with plum and dark berry character and hints of chocolate. It's full-bodied, with firm tannins and a fresh finish. Plenty of hazelnut and cherry character in the aftertaste. Give it three to four years of bottle age before opening."  James Suckling

2014 Sena
£410 per case 6x75cl, £440 per case 3x150cl,  £290 per double magnum (1x300cl OWC)

In collaboration with Robert Mondavi, Eduardo Chadwick created Sena ("signature").  Their aim was to make an iconic Chilean wine, to show off the terroir of the Aconcagua Valley set between the coastal and Andes mountain ranges, north of Santiago.  A Cabernet/Carmenere blend with a dash of the other Bordeaux varietals, Sena is an intense wine, round and smooth with notes of chocolate, almonds and a spiced clove finish.

97 pts -"Complex aromas of blueberry, rose petal, licorice, and currant. Full body, ultra fine tannins and a fresh and clean finish. Balanced and very refined. A wonderful purity and beauty. Give it three to four years to come together but already a beauty. A blend of 60% cabernet sauvignon, 16% carmenere, 11% malbec, 8% merlot and 5% petit verdot."  James Suckling

2014 Almaviva
£400 per case 6x75cl IB  /  £410 per case 3x150cl

Almaviva is a collaboration between Mouton Rothschild and Concha y Toro,  and like Vinedo Chadwick, it comes from the celebrated Puente Alto region in the Andean foothills.  A blend of Bordeaux varietals (60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot) with Carmenere (22%), Almaviva consistently produces impressive, Pauillac-styled wines.  The "fabulous" 2014 is one of the best ever.

97 pts - "A wine with wonderful blueberry, blackberry and hints of cedar and spice. Full body, dense and beautiful fruit. Chocolate, walnut and berry. It goes on for minutes. A fabulous wine. Better in 2020 but gorgeous now."  James Suckling

2013 Clos Apalta
£288 per case 6x75cl IB

Casa Lapostolle's Clos Apalta made an immediate impact, the debut 1997 vintage was described by Robert Parker as an "extraordinary wine...Serious wine tasters should give it a try".  The blend of Carmenere, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from the estate's oldest vines in Colchagua, many of which are pre-phylloxera and are un-grafted.

96 pts - "Gorgeous aromas of dark fruits such as blueberry and raspberry. Licorice too. Full body, velvety tannins but not overdone. Seamless tannins. Pretty finish. Better in 2019. One of the most elegant Clos Apaltas."  James Suckling
