We are delighted to offer a good selection of Vintage ports from Taylor and Fonseca, all available for pre-Christmas delivery.
We can also offer some wonderful Tawny ports from Taylor including the single vintage, late release rarities. Included amongst them is the extraordinary Taylor's very old single harvest 1863 (just rated 99 points by James Suckling).
- Taylor is renowned for its classic, age-worthy style. Described as the Latour of ports, for many Taylor's is the archetypal port and remarkable for its restrained power.
- Fonseca is equally First Growth in quality but in a richer, more open and flamboyant style. Tasted recently, the 2007 was delicious and round with incredible exotic aromas.
- Taylor's Very Old Single Harvest Port 1965 - Extended ageing in oak casks over 50 years makes this Single Vintage a beautifully complex and mellow port. Nutty and complex aromas and then nice salty nuttiness leading to a fresh and elegant finish. In wooden gift boxes.
- Taylor's Very Old Single Harvest Port 1863 - "If the Scion was Katherine Hepburn, this is Jane Russell. The 1863 Tawny is a Port from another time and another world, but whose pleasure is with us today. I cannot remember the last time I encountered such a jaw-dropping drop of alcohol" 98 points Neal Martin. Sold in a velvet-lined crystal decanter in maple burl veneer.
