In Bond Fine Wine. 2022 Château Beausejour Beausejour (Duffau), Saint Emilion, Bordeaux, France. Premier Grand Cru Classé B • Red Bordeaux in 3x75cl. Top critic score: 100/100 (JA). Drinking window: 2030–2060. Sold in bond by Albany Vintners, independent fine wine merchants.

Previously known as Beausejour Duffau, Beausejour is a small estate of just 6.8h. Stunning wines in 1990 & 2009 & 2010 achieved the perfect 100 point scores and show the potential at one of St Emilion's finest terroirs: Robert Parker noted: "In terms of potential, the vineyard is exceeded only by Ausone, Pavie and Belair for micro-climate and exposition." Since 2021 the estate is now being revitalised under the leadership of Josephine Duffau-Lagarrosse (9th generation winemaker). Having worked in Napa, New Zealand, Burgundy (Domaine Georges Noellat) & Mexico as well as Bordeaux, her experiences have shaped her winemaking style emphasising observation, minimal intervention & a deep respect for the estate's limestone plateau terroir (with plot by plot vinification). Now known as Beausejour - pure, vibrant and expressive wines that stand out from the rest.

Antonio Galloni (AG) — 98/100 · Vinous, 28/01/2025 · Drink 2030-2062

The 2022 Beausejour is fabulous. I find it better from bottle than it was in barrel. Explosive aromatics from the Franc make a strong first impression. Bright acids drive through a core of dark red fruit, blood orange, spice, new leather and espresso. All the elements meld together seamlessly. What a vivid and gorgeous wine this is. I especially admire the long, saline finish. This is a superb ef…

Jeb Dunnuck (JD) — 98/100 · JebDunnuck.com, 27/02/2025 · Drink 2030 - 2060

Violets, ripe black cherries, spring flowers, cassis, and a riveting sense of chalky minerality all shine in the 2022 Chateau Beausejour (Duffau-Lagarrosse), another heavenly 2022 that has gorgeous tannins, a seamless, layered, multi-dimensional mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish. It's not massive or incredibly concentrated, yet it has flawless balance and remarkable length. The pH…

James Suckling (JS) — 98/100 · JamesSuckling.com, 17/01/2025

What a stunningly complex St.-Emilion from Beausejour, with spot-on aromas of warm bread and roasted spices from the wood. The nose also shows orange rind, hazelnuts, minerals and touches of cocoa powder, hibiscus, mussel shells, graphite and black licorice. Concentrated and compact in flavor, but juicy and effortless. Really fine-grained and focused, with chalky tannins slowly developing and gro…
