From a single vineyard on the highest, sunniest hillside of Tenuta Tignanello, first made in 1978. Solaia is one of Tuscany’s great “Super Tuscans,” created by the Antinori family as a companion to Tignanello and produced only in the finest vintages. The vineyard, set on a sun-drenched hillside (“Solaia” translates as the sunny one), is planted to Cabe Tignanello, like Sassicaia, holds a special place in the history of Italian wine. First made in 1970, Tig was a groundbreaking blend of the local Sangiovese with international Cabernet Sauvignon.

What the critics say

James Suckling (JS) — 98/100 · JamesSuckling.com, 28/06/2023 · Drink 2028+

Subtle and beautiful on the nose with currants, flowers and light sage aromas that follow through to a full body with ultra-fine tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Extremely polished and poised. Classy. Best after 2028.

A great vintage of the iconic Solaia, full of cloves, sage, graphite, grilled dried herbs, underbrush and roasted cherry pit. There's fruit too, bilberry and cassis, juicy and mouthwatering, both understated and exuberant, ensuring a Tuscan fingerprint despite its majority Cabernet Sauvignon construction. Has grip and length, and effortless charm, reflecting an excellent vintage with low yields a…
