Few winemakers have made quite the impression on Spain as Danish-born Peter Sisseck. Arriving in Ribera del Duero in the early 1990s, he established Dominio de Pingus in 1995. His first vintage, Pingus 1995, caused a stir, quickly establishing it among Spain’s most sought-after wines. Made in tiny quantities (just 8,000-9000 bts) from exceptionally old Tempranillo vines, it remains his flagship. Flor de Pingus offers a more accessible, earlier drinking expression. The third wine, PSI, is made by working with local growers to preserve the region’s old vineyards and traditional farming. Over the years, Sisseck has moved away from the more powerful, heavily extracted style of his early wines, placing greater emphasis on freshness, elegance and the character of Ribera del Duero’s remarkable old vines.

What the critics say

Luis Gutiérrez (LG) — 93/100 · Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com, 31/01/2023

In 2020, he reached the target he set for himself when PSI first started, to produce around 300,000 bottles (it's actually 350,000 bottles). The volume of the 2020 PSI is something that's important, as it has availability and affordability, which is necessary when based on quality, purchasing only grapes from old vines (they use 7,000 plots for this volume!). So, they also started purchasing some…

Luis Gutiérrez (LG) — 92–94/100 · Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com, 29/10/2021 · Drink 2023 - 2026

The unbottled sample of the 2020 PSI feels young, juicy, very fruit-driven and clean. 2020 was an unusual vintage, first of all because of COVID-19, but it was a year with lots of light, plenty of flowers and a beautiful spring. They were able to harvest quite early and finished two days before the abundant rains (except in Soria, which is a different story) that started on the 20th of September.…

James Suckling (JS) — 93/100 · JamesSuckling.com, 15/08/2023

The Mediterranean identity immediately comes to the fore with garrigues, sage, thyme and black cherries. Juicy and fresh on the palate with excellent fluidity to the middle with a medium to full body and a long, spicy finish. Drink now.
