The 2019 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru opens in the glass with aromas of wild berries, plums, loamy soil, incense and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, it's rich and concentrated, built around a chassis of fine, powdery tannins and lively acids. Like so many of the region's more inherently structured sites this year, it's unusually elegant and seductive as a barrel sample.

One of my favorite aromatics from Bouchard, it is beautifully defined with effervescent red berry fruit, rose petals and basalt scents.
