Chateau Figeac is one of Saint Emilion’s most iconic and individual estates, long admired for its unique identity and remarkable terroir. Positioned at the North West edge of the appellation, close to the Pomerol border, with 41 hectares planted. Unusually on the Right Bank, Figeac sits on gravel-dominant soils layered over blue clay, more typical of the Left Bank, and so Figeac is a distinctive blend of 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc, and just 30% Merlot. The result is a wine of elegance, structure, and exceptional aging potential, bridging the stylistic gap between the two banks of Bordeaux. What the critics say

Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (LPB) — 97/100 · Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com, 30/11/2018 · Drink 2025-2065

The 2016 Figeac is comprised of 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 26% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple colored, the nose is a little broody and reticent at this very youthful stage, slowly unfolding to reveal profound plum preserves, creme de cassis, black raspberries and star anise with hints of moss-covered bark, truffles and tilled loam plus a waft of red currants and raspberry leaves s…

Neal Martin (NM) — 98–100/100 · Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com, 28/04/2017 · Drink 2026-2060

The 2016 Figeac is a blend of 36% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Franc and 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, picked from 23 September until 20 October at 49 hectoliters per hectare with 13.9% alcohol. The acidity is 3.67 pH, and it matured in 100% new oak (focused on five cooperages). This is a property that opened a new chapter in 2013, when Michel Rolland's services as a master blender have been called upon and en…

Antonio Galloni (AG) — 94–97/100 · Vinous, 25/04/2017

The 2016 Figeac has been super-impressive on both occasions I have tasted it so far. A big wine, the 2016 exudes depth and power. Even so, the forbidding tannins are almost shockingly buried by the sheer intensity and purity of the fruit. Graphite, savory herbs, smoke, menthol, licorice and smoke are some of the many accents that infuse the huge finish. As good as the 2016 is today, it is clearly…
