In Bond Fine Wine. 2015 Château Clinet, Pomerol, Bordeaux, France. Red Bordeaux in 6x75cl. Top critic score: 96/100 (NM). Sold in bond by Albany Vintners, independent fine wine merchants.

Typically well-judged and well-priced, a Pomerol star known for structured decadence and polish. Unusually in Pomerol, a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend adding to its distinctive complex character.

What the critics say

Albany Vintners (AV) — 94–96/100 · -, 27/04/2016

90% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Cabernet Franc. Picked between 15th September (Merlot) and 1st October (Cabernets). Deep colour with a lovely aromatics, ripe black cherries and blackforest gateau. Lots of dense and opulent fruit with vivid acidity. Good concentration without being overdone and the tannins are creamy and smooth building to a dry finish.

James Suckling (JS) — 99/100 · JamesSuckling.com, 02/02/2018

An immaculate wine with pristine blackberries and dark plums as well as fresh, earthy nuances and dark crushed violets. An upright palate with lightly peppery dark berries and plums. The inflection of cabernet here makes for an impressively powerful wine that still exudes Pomerol's suave, seductive charm. Chalky, seamless tannins. Super fresh. Try from 2022.
