In Bond Fine Wine. 2015 Aromes de Pavie, Saint Emilion, Bordeaux, France. Second wine • Red Bordeaux in 12x75cl. Top critic score: 92/100 (WA). Drinking window: 2020–2030. Sold in bond by Albany Vintners, independent fine wine merchants.

Aromes de Pavie is the charming second wine of Saint Emilion's Chateau Pavie, mostly made from the estate's younger vines but with the addition of some deselected lots from the Grand Vin as well. First produced in 2005, it is made for earlier drinking but with exactly the same precision and attention shown to its illustrious sibling. Rich, polished and unmistakably Pavie in style, Arômes de Pavie combines plush dark berry fruit, spice, espresso and silky texture.

This vintage of the second wine of Chateau Pavie is a blend of 66% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Franc and 13% Cabernet Sauvignon and was matured 50% in new and 50% in one-year-old French oak barrels. Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Ar'mes de Pavie reveals a beguiling nose of smoked meats, fragrant earth and saut'ed herbs over a core of warm red and black plums, cherry compote and blackberry pie plus…

The 2015 Ar'mes de Pavie, the second wine of Pavie, emerges principally from two hectares on the plateau that were previously used for the Grand Vin. Black cherry, chocolate, new leather and plum flesh out to give this sumptuous, racy Saint-Émilion its inviting personality. Racy and alluring, the Ar'mes is a gorgeous wine that may very well hold some surprises down the road. Tasted two times.
