James Molesworth (JMol) — 92–95/100 · Wine Spectator, 31/03/2011
This plump red offers black tea, warm ganache, fig and black currant confiture notes backed by a smoky finish, with pillowy but lengthy tannins. Acidity then rushes in at the very end, adding more length. An impressive step up for this wine. Tasted non-blind.

65% production goes into the Grand Vin. Quite closed on the nose. Medium body but packed full of fruit. Blackberry, black cherry and mint on the palate with lovely concentration and a firm structure. A stricter style and Seems more complete than Carruades.

This starts out reserved, and then quietly builds in strength, showing velvety tannins, creamy blackberry and blackcurrant hedgerow, full of Pauillac character and tannins but far less forbidding that it was as a young wine. Love how much this has grown into itself over ageing.
