In Bond Fine Wine. 2007 Château Pavie, Saint Emilion, Bordeaux, France. Premier Grand Cru Classé A • Red Bordeaux in 12x75cl. Top critic score: 94/100 (RP). Sold in bond by Albany Vintners, independent fine wine merchants.

Château Pavie was revitalised under the late Gérard Perse, whose vision and relentless pursuit of quality elevated the property into the very highest echelon of Bordeaux. Perse acquired the estate in 1998 and oversaw a remarkable reinvigoration of both vineyard and cellar, turning Pavie into one of the most powerful, sought-after and critically acclaimed wines on the Right Bank, rivalling Ausone and Cheval Blanc. Neal Martin (NM) — 93/100 · Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com, 30/06/2017 · Drink 2017-2035

The 2007 Pavie has a very clear, almost refulgent color in the glass. The bouquet is well defined with plush crushed strawberry, raspberry, cedar and mint aromas on the nose, almost Margaux-like in style thanks to a floral tincture. Robert Parker (RP) — 94/100 · Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com, 30/04/2010 · Drink 2012-2037

Along with Lafite Rothschild, Ausone, and l'Eglise Clinet, Pavie is one of the wines of the vintage. An inky/purple color is accompanied by notes of creme de cassis, kirsch, graphite, and toast. A massive wine for the vintage, the 2007 Pavie is very full-bodied with extraordinary intensity, power, and richness. Its structure and tannin suggest 2-4 years of cellaring is required, and it should evo…

Decanter (DEC) — 18/20 · -, 08/04/2008 · Drink 2015-2030

Out in front this year with Ausone. Deep purple-black hue. Lovely rich, spicy, dark fruit aroma. Real concentration of layered fruit on the palate with firm but fine tannins behind. Overall freshness and balance on the finish. Harmonious wine with both power and finesse. Drink 2015-2030.
