Chateau Latour needs little introduction. This First Growth is home to one of the world's finest and most famous terroirs. Chateau Latour famously withdrew from the en Primeur system in 2012 in favour of releasing wines onto the market only when deemed ready by the Chateau. One of the world's great vineyards, the team under Frederic Engerer have upheld the highest standards of quality for two decades.

A young wine that electrifies every taste bud in your mouth. Compacted aromas of crushed currants and minerals, with roses and lilacs. Full-bodied, with masses of silky, refined tannins and a finish that lasts for minutes. Stunning. Best Latour since 1990. Best after 2012.

Latour has made truly great wines in the past two decades - and this is one of the best. It has fabulous aromas of black truffles, currants, raspberry and dried flowers. Mind-blowing on the palate, it's an emotional and soulful red.

Dark crimson. Light, bracing nose. Not the most intense Latour vintage but it is at least more Latour than 2000. Very solid and mineral with some lift and I should think no disappointment in the long run, though I would strongly recommend the more expressive Forts in the short term. The grand vin is obdurately dry and introvert at the moment. (18.5+ Points)
