The 2013 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has a very refined and focused, what you might describe as “classic” bouquet that is pure class: no frills or self-aggrandizing, just a crystalline mineral-laden nose that will surely be destined to evolve beautifully in bottle. The palate is extremely well balanced with lime, freshly sliced pear; a dash of spice and a very long, controlled and refined finish. I would cellar this Bâtard-Montrachet for several years, if you can resist its charms. Just three barrels produced.
