Tasting Notes

The 2012 Le Difese is a bright and fruit-forward blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (70%) and Sangiovese (aged one year in oak) that shows a point of ripe fruit or strawberry at the very start. There’s a frank simplicity to this wine that makes it a pleasure to drink without too much contemplation. That solid core of ripe fruit is embellished by soft contours of spice and tobacco.

Tenuta San Guido's 2012 Le Difese is a soft, fruity red to drink over the next handful of years. Sweet tobacco, anise, crushed flowers, dried cherries and menthol inform the forward finish. Le Difese is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Sangiovese.

Subtle ripe aromas of dried berries, spices and cedar follow through to a full body with pretty tannins and a juicy finish. Tight now. One of the best second wines of Sassicaia. Try in 2016.
