The 2007 Le Gay has a slightly smudged bouquet of mulberry, singed leather and hung game notes, seeming to have dispensed with some of its energy since I last tasted it. The palate is medium-bodied with smooth tannin and certainly has more to offer than the aromatics: small dark cherries, sage, marmalade and truffle emerging towards the finish. It begins in modest fashion but finishes with some aplomb. Tasted February 2017. Score: 90 Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2017-2027 30 June 2017 |
