Tasting Notes

The 2011 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has a light approachable, slightly smudged cranberry and strawberry nose. The palate is medium-bodied with a simple, soft opening, crisp and slightly rustic red berries with a touch of spice on the finish. This is easy-drinking Rousseau. Drink now.

Score: 86

There is a touch of reduction to the nose that takes out the top part of the red berry fruit and earth aromatic profile. There is a restrained character to the cool and pure flavors that are supported by notably fine-grained tannins on the clean, balanced and ever-so-mildly austere finish.

Score: 88 - 91

Medium red. Maraschino cherry and spices on the very ripe nose, plus a whiff of game. Sweet and fleshy in the mouth, with red fruit flavors complicated by coffee, mocha and gibier and accented on the end by pepper and herbs. Offers good body and breadth for this cuvee and finishes with supple, ripe tannins.

Score: 87 - 89
