Tasting Notes

Damoy’s 2008 Chambertin is a dazzling wine. The aromatics, fruit and structural components all come together beautifully in this silky, dramatic Burgundy. I especially like the way the fruit wraps around the palate all the way through to the finish. Sweet red berries, flowers and spices add the final layers of complexity. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2028.

The pure and pretty but somber red and black fruit nose evidences plenty of earth and minerality, both of which are picked up by the dense, tautly muscled and quite serious big-bodied flavors brimming with dry extract and supported by very firm tannins on the moderately austere and mildly herbal finish. This is a classic Chambertin that is built to age and as such, note well that ample patience will be required. 93/2023+
