Tasting Notes

A well-mannered red that's accessible and round, despite the light-grained tannins that appear on the finish. Well-balanced, this needs a few years for the up-front fruit to mesh with the tannins and oak. Has fine length. Best from 2008 through 2018.

A gentle touch of wood spice frames black berry fruit aromas and hints of cola and violets though there is a slightly vegetal component as well. The supple medium full flavors deliver more size, weight and structure and while this is not a big wine, and certainly not in the context of the next two wines, it fairly well dwarfs the Clos Tamisot. While the finish is firm and linear at the moment, I suspect it will round out fairly quickly, at least by the usual standards of this wine. Overall, I found this to be interesting and certainly finer but not necessarily better than the Tamisot. Drink 2011+
