The deep golden, almost amber color reminds me of the 1983 in its youth. Orange marmalade, creme brulee, browned butter, and smoke emerge from the relatively complex, attractive, and full-bodied 2000. Exhibiting tremendous density, good acidity, and loads of fruit and botrytis, it is a strong candidate for the wine of the vintage in Sauternes.
