The crushed rock-like terroir character of this tiny, but fabulous vineyard is unmistakable in the 2004 Clos St.-Martin. Sweet plum, cherry, and wet stone characteristics also emerge from this beauty that tastes like liquid rocks intermixed with red and black fruits. Medium-bodied with excellent definition, an elegant personality, and terrific purity as well as length, the 2004 is more forward than most vintages. Quite muted on the nose. Broody. Soft entry, very ripe supple Merlot. The mid-palate builds nicely with well-integrated tannins. Blackberry and raspberry.
