Tasting Notes

The mild reduction this displayed from barrel is still present though like before, it doesn't detract unduly from the otherwise ripe orchard fruit aromas that merge into detailed and lightly mineral-inflected flavors that possess fine precision on the tension-filled and noticeably finer finish. This is really quite good for its level as I particularly like the sense of proportion which will allow it to drink well young if desired. Comments: Outstanding

The 2009 Meursault Clos de la Barre is quite pretty. Today it comes across as a touch lithe, but there is plenty of freshness and verve in the glass. It will be interesting to see where this goes in bottle. I tasted the Clos de la Barre from tank, where it was awaiting bottling, scheduled for July, 2011, probably not the ideal time to taste the wine.

Tasted out of barrel at the Domaine. There is just a slight touch of reduction on the nose, but there is patently a lot of fruit intensity that will develop after bottling. It has a lot of energy on the entry, good tension, touches of hazelnut, green apple and spice, very focused towards the finish that lingers beautifully.

Discreet mushroomy nose and very tight. Will need a lot of time. Lots of grip (sic) according to Dominique Lafon! Very long. (17+ Points)
