Always one of the ripest and most hedonistic of the Fronsacs, this wine again delivers the goods. Dense ruby/purple, with loads of black currant and licorice-infused black raspberry fruit, this wine has stunning density, a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, and impressive purity, texture and length. The high Merlot content always seems to ensure a wine that has accessibility young, but also has the potential to easily last for a decade or more. This is once again a major sleeper of the vintage. A stunningly opulent, even voluptuous style of wine from proprietor Colin Ferenbach (an American, of all things!), this blend of 75% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon emerges from 45 acres of hillside vineyards in Fronsac. Score: 91 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com 01 February 2013 |

This American-owned estate has been on a qualitative roll for over a decade and the 2010 should rival their 2005 and 2009 as one of the finest wines La Vieille Cure has made. The dense plum/ruby/purple-tinged 2010 exhibits beautiful notes of kirsch liqueur, black currants, licorice and forest floor. Lovely texture and purity, medium to full body and superb fruit intensity result in a gorgeous wine that will be accessible early, but capable of lasting 10-15 years. Score: 91 - 93 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com 04 May 2011 |

Muscular and also sweet with a lovely completeness that is rare in St-Émilion and Pomerol. Slightly dry finish but a good wine! Should be GV. Score: 16 - 17 Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2016-2030 15 April 2011 |

Good fruit expression with a note of well integrated toasted oak. Supple, crunchy fruit on the palate. Firm, grippy tannins. Score: 15 - 16 Decanter, Decanter.com Maturity: 2014-2022 13 April 2011 |

Light, with friendly cassis and cherry fruit kissed with a hint of toasty vanilla. The finish is soft and rounded. Score: 88 - 91 James Molesworth, Wine Spectator 31 March 2011 |
