Good full. red. Expressive, deep aromas and flavors of raspberry, strawberry, smoke and underbrush. Has enough flesh to support its rather firm acid structure. This dry, persistent wine finishes juicy but not tart, with excellent thrust and a subtle saline note emerging on the back. Score: 91 Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar 01 March 2011 |

Pale pinkish ruby. Delicate mix of lightly exotic spice, red cherry fruit and a hint of stemmy/peppery freshness, possibly liquorice. Stemmy, sandalwood note increases as it opens in the glass and then the fruit returns, like a continuing cycle of aromas. The intensity on the palate comes as quite a shock after the delicacy of the nose. Much more savoury and spiced and dense than I expected though still beautifully fresh. Immense length. Tannins are dense too, totally smooth (ie no grain), more like steel than wood, and sleek but leaving a spicy grip on the finish. A notably riper, intensely spicy, airy and extremely fresh nose blends both red and blue berry fruit aromas as well as warm earth notes that continue onto the rich, velvety and mouth coating medium-bodied flavors that display a bit more minerality than I typically find, all wrapped in a firm, racy and driving finish that delivers outstanding length. This is a dramatically good effort because this is always very good, it is rarely great but in 2008, it's first rate. Score: 93 Allen Meadows, Burghound Maturity: 2023+ 01 January 2011 |

Spirited crimson hue. Very slightly reduced when I tasted it in late November 2009 but with some real depth and energy. Super-concentrated raspberry fruit. Seductive taffeta texture. Really juicy, long and powerful with admirable vibrancy. Score: 17 - 18 Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2014-2024 19 January 2010 |
