Tasting Notes

This white is really intense with mangos, pineapple, and lemon character. It's full and very lively with wonderful depth of fruit and length. Fresh and bright with tangy acidity and a brilliance at the end. Hard not to drink it now. Better after 2016.

James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com Maturity: 2016+ 04 February 2013

A staggeringly rich blend of 81% Semillon and the rest Sauvignon Blanc, this full-throttle, impressively endowed wine has good acidity, with hints of candle wax, mandarin orange marmalade, caramelized melons and lemon oil. It is a stunner and should last 30-40 more years.

Score: 96

Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2013-2053 01 February 2013

Composed of 81% Semillon and 19% Sauvignon Blanc, this 2010 exhibits crisp, zesty acids as well as a full-bodied mouthfeel offering lots of lanolin, sealing wax, honeyed Mandarin oranges and lemon oil. This sensational effort has 30-40 years of aging potential. (93-95+)

81% Semillon, 19% Sauvignon Blanc. 450 cases are made here. Slightly paler than HBB. The nose is tightly wound with hints of lemons. Full-bodied with yellow apples and peaches. Very big in the mouth but lively with tangy fruit.

Albany Vintners, - 28 April 2011

A blend of 81% Semillon and 19% Sauvignon Blanc, this has a well-defined bouquet with grapefruit, green lime, white flowers and a touch of lemon curd. Very good definition. The palate is medium-bodied with fine definition, a little yeasty on the entry, becoming more citrus driven towards the finish with lemon curd and a hint of vanilla pod. Good length. This is a lovely Laville...sorry...La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc worthy of long-term cellaring. Tasted March 2011.

Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com 22 April 2011

81% Sémillon, 19% Sauvignon Blanc. Pale greenish straw. Very broad and mineral and utterly captivating already on the nose. Lovely dry minerals on the finish. Really racy. Great build. Wonderful precision. Nothing fat at all. So many interesting elements that will surely become more complex. Even quite delicate though I’m sure it has lots of alcohol! 14.3%

Tight, with lots of verbena, blanched almond, green fig and plantain notes. Sports some power too, with a dense, lightly toasty finish. This has focus and length for sure, but just needs to stretch out. Tasted non-blind.

Score: 94 - 97

James Molesworth, Wine Spectator 05 April 2011

Beautiful citrus elements over white fruits, already richly expressive with the weight and texture of a Montrachet plus the northern Graves salinity and minerality. A triumph.
