Tasting Notes

The now defunct second wine of Ch Haut-Brion. A bit sweet and tarty on the nose. Then acid but nothing to bind them together. More cellar than vineyard.

Score: 15

Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2010-2015 04 November 2009

Good bright ruby-red. Bright, fruit-driven aromas of black raspberry and cherry; reminded me of Burgundy. At once juicy and chewy, with a restrained sweetness and firm but harmonious acidity. Plenty ripe in the context of the year, and very well balanced. Finishes with firm tannins and very good length.

Score: 88

Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar 01 May 2005

A dark ruby color is followed by earthy, smoky, cherry, mulberry, and currant aromas in this light to medium-bodied Bahans. Slightly spicy and austere, with a clean, pure finish, it should be consumed over the next 4-5 years.

Score: 87

Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com 01 April 2005

Subtle and classy aromas of blackberries, fresh mushrooms and light oak follow through to a medium-bodied palate, with a good core of fruit, silky tannins and a medium finish. Second wine of Haut-Brion. Best after 2007.

Score: 88
