Tasting Notes

An impressive perfume of blueberries, raspberries, graphite, cedar, and flowers suggestive of an outstanding wine soars from the glass of this 2004 Pessac-Leognan. A lush attack reveals excellent fruit, texture, and precision, but the wine narrows slightly in the finish. If it adds weight over the next few years, it will merit an outstanding rating. Give it 1-3 years of bottle age and drink it over the following 12-14. It is undeniably a sleeper of the vintage.

Full red. Very Graves-y aromas of plum, redcurrant, tobacco and smoked meat, along with a whiff of caramel. Sweet and juicy, with good cut and intensity to its flavors of red fruits, spices and tobacco. Nicely persistent, juicy wine with rather suave tannins. Today this seems a bit riper than the young 2006.

Standard ripe Graves. Rather forward and easy. Not ambitious but an attractive drink.

A very elegant, fresh, almost citrus nose. Blackberry, vanilla and violets. Superb definition. The palate is bursting full of ripe Merlot fruit. Harmonious with black cherry and wild strawberry. Quite tannic on the finish - good persistency. Excellent. Tasted April 2005.
