Tasting Notes:

A rich, opulent style, packed with red cherry, blackberry and spice flavors that butt up against the dense, grainy tannins. There's plenty of flesh and sweet fruit to match the structure, and the long aftertaste reveals a mineral facet. Best from 2013 through 2025.

Score: 92 Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator Maturity: 2013-2025

Tasting note: A very subtle touch of oak influence sets off a pungently earthy mix of brooding but extremely fresh red and dark berry fruit aromas trimmed in subtle herbal, spice and game notes that precede the impressively scaled and robust full-bodied flavors that are sleekly muscled and possess plenty of pop on the intense, complex, balanced and long finish. This is a powerful yet focused effort that retains a fine sense of underlying balance and this should benefit from up to a decade in the cellar first.

Very lively and tense and on a tightrope - quite a feat for a grand cru! Convincing!

Score: 18 - 19 Jancis Robinson MW, Jancisrobinson.com Maturity: 2012-2022

Good medium red. Medicinal red cherry on the nose. Supple, sweet and spicy, with a round middle and a flavor of menthol. I found myself wanting a bit more cut and lift. The wine's oakiness gives the finish a rather strict aspect today. Grivot says the 2000 Clos Vougeot is silky and delicious right now.
