A somber and brooding nose requires some vigorous swirling to coax slightly more elegant and higher-toned red pinot and distinctly animale aromas where the latter component is also picked up on the beautifully textured, rich and notably full-bodied flavors that are intense and somewhat chewy on the balanced, menthol-infused finish. Bright, dark red. Sexy aromas of blackberry and gibier Dense and intensely flavored but at the same time quite suave and elegant, with lovely ripe acidity framing the flavors of blackberry, minerals and violet. Here the tannins are sweet and nicely integrated, with no sign of dryness. Very stylish, fresh wine, and an excellent example of the vintage. Hint of menthol on the back.
