The 2007 Gazin is a Pomerol that I had not tasted for several years. It has a refined bouquet, not intense or overly complex, but offering pretty truffle-tinged dark berry fruit and a hint of oyster shell. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannin, linear and masculine in style, tapering in towards a slightly mean finish that could have benefited from more flesh, pulling up short on the aftertaste. Drink soon. Tasted February 2017. Score: 88 Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2017-2025 30 June 2017 |

This has a better nose than previous Gazins out of barrel – far less herbaceous than usual. Blackberries and a touch of wild hedgerow and wild strawberry. The palate is medium-bodied, a real succulence to it with good acidity and a sappy finish of black cherries, strawberry and red cherry. Good focus. This is a good Pomerol for the vintage (though it just needs a little more tension on the finish.) Score: 87 - 89 Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com 08 April 2008 |

Blackberry and coffee aromas lead to a full body, with a solid core of tannins and a medium, delicate finish. A little hollow in the midpalate, but clean and well-made. Best after 2013. 6,060 cases made. Score: 88 James Suckling, Wine Spectator 30 April 2010 |

Extremely pretty for the vintage, with chocolate, berry and light coffee aromas and flavors. Medium body, fine tannins and a delicate finish. Very well done. Score: 88 - 91 James Suckling, Wine Spectator 01 April 2008 |

Performing better from bottle than it did from barrel, the 2007 Gazin is spicy, but the oak component is more restrained than normal. It is a relatively big-styled wine for a 2007, with impressive richness, a dark ruby/purple color, notes of lead pencil shavings, ink, black currants, sweet dark plums, and balsamic. Cellar it for 1-2 years and consume it over the following 10-15. Score: 89 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2011-2026 30 April 2010 |

Notably dark crimson. Big – lots of mass but not much flavour. Lightly cheesy with marked acidity. A little bit green and astringent. Not much fun. Score: 14 Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2012-2015 10 April 2008 |

Appealing wine for relatively early drinking. Medium bodied, supple fruit with a touch more zest than many this year. Cassis notes. Drink 2011-2018. Score: 16 Decanter, - Maturity: 2011-2018 08 April 2008 |
