The 2007 Canon la Gaffeliere has a lovely chestnut-tinged bouquet with satisfying, commendable fruit generosity given the growing season, brimming with buxom raspberry and wild cherry scents. The palate is smooth on the entry, quite gamy in quality and curiously reminding me of a fine Stellenbosch Cabernet blend (meant as a complement). I admire the depth and weight of this Saint Emilion, and while it is just beginning to show some dryness on the finish, it should give pleasure for another 5-6 years. Tasted February 2017. Score: 89 Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2017-2024 30 June 2017 |

Fresh and well balanced and please-all. A glass of malted milk before bedtime? Well mannered. Score: 16 - 17 Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2013-2018 12 May 2011 |

Dark blueish. Round, cloudlike impression on the nose. Sweet and round and easy, flattering - this sample doesn’t have any dry tannins. Big, bold, ripe fruit on the nose and very gentle palate texture. Definitely ripe enough and already quite nicely balanced even if not for the very long term. Vibrant fruit. Quite long and no painful dry tannins. Riper than most. Quite soft. Score: 16 Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2012-2017 10 April 2008 |

This well-known estate consistently performs at a high level, and proprietor Stephan von Neipperg-s 2007 is a beauty. Cropped at 26 hectoliters per hectare, this blend of 55% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon possesses a dark ruby/purple color, a surprisingly full-bodied style with sweet notes of fruitcake, graphite, black cherry, black currant, and incense. Round, full-bodied, and opulent with well-integrated oak, it is a fleshy, full, exuberant wine that is ideal for drinking now and over the next decade. It achieved 13.5% natural alcohol. Score: 90 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2010-2020 30 April 2010 |

Pretty milk chocolate, earth, mushroom and berry on the nose. Medium- to full-bodied, with good fruit, fine tannins and a fresh finish. Slightly hollow midpalate. Drinkable now, but will develop complexity with bottle age. Best after 2012. 355 cases made. Score: 88 James Suckling, Wine Spectator Maturity: 2012+ 31 March 2010 |

Lively, fresh and packed with fruit. Lovely pure expression. Round and supple with middling length and fine, filigree tannins. Elegant but without the intensity of big years. Drink 2012-2020 Score: 16 Decanter, - Maturity: 2012-2020 08 April 2008 |

Quite powerful nose with underlying pure fruit and a hint of liquorice. Quite precise with good grip with very ripe black cherries and violets, verging on over-ripe even. Very supple but serious with drying tannins and coffee and a hot finish. Score: 89 - 91 Albany Vintners, - 01 April 2008 |
