Tasting Notes | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|
Tasted single blind against its peers. The Chateau de Malle 2007 is very pure on the nose: touches of lemon curd, apricot-blossom and white peach with a crystalline clarity. The palate is very well-balanced with impressive levels of botrytis, displaying a pinch of spice on the entry. It has put on weight in recent months and developed a convincing caressing finish imbued with tension. This exceeds my previous expectations. Tasted January 2011. Score: 93 Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com 01 February 2012 |

This has a simple nose with a relatively low level of botrytized fruit. Honey, grapefruit and a touch of dried lychee. The palate is well-balanced, good acidity, much more elegant in style but with good definition and focus towards the finish. Good nervosité and minerality on the finish. Very well-crafted de Malle. Very fine. Tasted April 2008. Score: 89 - 91 Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2012-2027 01 May 2008 |

Sliced lemon and Seville orange on the nose, with honey and syrup. Full-bodied and very sweet, with lots of botrytis, dried mushroom dust and honey on the finish. Very intense. Even better than from barrel. Best after 2013. Score: 92 James Suckling, Wine Spectator Maturity: 2013+ 31 March 2010 |

Full and rich on the palate. Seems very sweet, with lots of tropical fruit and melon character. Medium finish. Score: 88 - 89 James Suckling, Wine Spectator 31 March 2008 |

Real lift as well as great ripeness and high sugar level. Pretty, floral notes. Something tense about this. Great energy and reserves. Well balanced. But not the most concentrated and precise. Some top quality oak evident at this stage. Reverberates. Long. Score: 17 Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2014-2025 10 April 2008 |

Has an outstanding track-record over a number of years, but the sample was quite troubled and unformed. It is very sweet at present, but on present evidence one cannot honestly say how good it may become. To give a mark at this stage would be premature and unfair Score: - Decanter, - 08 April 2008 |

Misty pale lemon gold. Fresh, simple aromatics with apricots and candied lemons. Then super-rich palate with pineapples and stone fruit. Just slightly syrupy. Score: 89 - 91 Albany Vintners, - 01 April 2008 |
