The 2007 Grand-Puy-Lacoste has a straight-down-the-line, no frills, pencil lead-infused, black-fruited bouquet with wonderful definition and commendable intensity for the vintage. The palate is medium-bodied with a surprisingly lithe and sensual opening, more red fruit than other vintages of Grand Puy Lacoste with satisfying precision and mineralité on the finish. This is excellent. Tasted February 2017. Score: 91 Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2018-2032 30 June 2017 |

Cropped at 40hl/ha and tasted at the château, I was just a little underwhelmed by this wine, perhaps in part because I was so smitten with last year’s 2006. A deep garnet hue. The nose has modest intensity with blackcurrant leaf, a touch of shellfish and a little iodine that turns into bouquets of violets with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied, very foursquare, very Pauillac with its tobacco flavours and dry, almost earthy finish. I hope this has sufficient fruit concentration because the finish is rather attenuated and dry. Missing the joie-de-vivre of its proprietor this year? Look forward to re-tasting this closer to bottling. Score: 88 - 90 Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com 08 April 2008 |

Mulberry and dark cherry aromas follow through to a medium body, with fine tannins and a delicate finish. Very ready. Drink now. 12,915 cases made. Score: 87 James Suckling, Wine Spectator 31 March 2010 |

Plenty of subtle cassis and floral aromas follow through to a medium-to-full-bodied palate, with fine tannins and a fresh finish. Pretty wine. Score: 88 - 91 James Suckling, Wine Spectator 01 April 2008 |

Only mid concentration of crimson. Warm, toasty nose, very sweet start, juicy fruit - quite different from most wines. There is energy there but pretty dry tannins on the finish. Pretty good for the vintage. A little chewy and green and a bit raw on the finish. Score: 17 Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2015-2024 10 April 2008 |

Dense black-red, lots of blackcurrant fruit both floral and lifted, very pure, very expressive with fine precision and density. Score: 17 Decanter, - Maturity: 2013-2020 08 April 2008 |

Deep rich purple. Concentrated Cabernet aromas, forest fruits and mint. Full-bodied with very good depth of currant fruit, cedar and blackberry leaf. Serious wine! Mouthfilling with super-smooth tannins. Very suave and fresh with an intense coffee roast finish Score: 90 - 92 Albany Vintners, - 01 April 2008 |
