Tasting Notes

Mineral, floral and fruit aromas lead to a medium body, with slightly hard tannins and a lean finish. There's good racy character for the vintage, yet this lacks some fruit and needs time in the bottle to soften. Drink now.

Score: 85

James Suckling, Wine Spectator 31 March 2010

A balanced and fruity red, with mineral, violet and berry character. Medium-to-full-bodied, with refined tannins and a clean, fresh finish. I like this better than 2006.

James Suckling, Wine Spectator 31 March 2008

Not as dark and concentrated as usual. Bit of oak evident. Very dry and chewy. Rather uncomfortable to taste. More ambitious than the Chapelle de Pongtensac but not more fun.

Score: 15

Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2013-2017 10 April 2008

Dark colour, big meaty wine with good earthy grip, still a bit severe, but good depth. Drink 2012-17.

This is much more closed on the nose compared to the Chapelle de Potensac but there are some fine blackberry and cassis fruit here. Like the Chapelle, this is much better than the disappointing 2006, with decent fruit concentration with blackberry, plum and a touch of dried blood. Cohesive, no signs of any under-ripeness on the finish – at last this is a decent Potensac! Mouth-coating tannins on the finish. Very fine.

Score: 87 - 89

Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com 01 April 2008

Mid-ruby colour. Light aromas of berry fruit, wet leaves. Quite a lot of rich chewy fruit in the middle.
