Tasting Notes

The 2007 Cantemerle has a lifted redcurrant and raspberry coulis nose with hints of toffee coming through with aeration. The palate is raw on the entry with harsh tannins and a very disjointed, sour finish. I like Cantemerle, but this seems to be poleaxed by the growing season. Tasted March 2015.

Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2015-2018 30 June 2017

Bright red-ruby. Slightly reduced, musky aromas of redcurrant, iron and roasted meat. Pliant and wild on the palate, showing good sweetness and a bit of leathery rusticity to the flavors of redcurrant, licorice and meat. Shows the leafy, peppery side of the vintage but also has good lift and finishes with fairly fine tannins. The leathery note carries into the finish.

Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar 01 July 2010

A beautiful wine of elegance and intensity, this medium-bodied, dark plum/purple-hued 2007 possesses a floral-infused bouquet, sweet, plush, red and black fruit flavors, and an endearing, silky texture. Drink it over the next 10-12 years.

Blackish crimson. Tarry, meaty nose then supple, rather refined fruit and a very cool palate. Well managed tannins and no hint of green. Not thrilling but very well handled.

Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2011-2016 10 April 2008

Good deep colour, attractive fragrant fruit, quite fully and nicely ripe on attack, just a touch of green in the middle, but a very well-made wine in this year and more weight than usual. Drink 2011-17.
