The 2007 Canon has a light and pleasant but, I have to say, slightly weedy bouquet that is simply missing the intensity of either Troplong-Mondot or Canon-la-Gaffelière. The palate is medium-bodied with soft tannin on the entry, game and leather infusing the dark berry fruit with a healthy pinch of white pepper on the finish. It's actually one of the better bottles that I have tasted, although Nicolas Audebert is producing far superior wines nowadays. Tasted February 2017. Score: 88 Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2017-2025 30 June 2017 |

This exhibits sliced plum, chocolate and toffee notes. Medium-bodied, with a light plum fruit character and a medium, silky finish. Slightly one-dimensional at this stage, but harmonious. Best after 2012. Score: 88 James Suckling, Wine Spectator 30 April 2010 |

A very pretty wine, with blackberry, chocolate and light vanilla. Medium body, good ripe fruit and a balanced finish. All there and in harmony for the year. Score: 87 - 90 James Suckling, Wine Spectator 01 April 2008 |

The strongest effort from Canon since 1982 and before 2009, the 2007 (75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc) exhibits a dark ruby/purple color along with a beautiful bouquet of crushed rocks, boysenberries, blueberries, black raspberries, and licorice. The soft tannins, classic feel and texture, and medium to full-bodied, lengthy finish with no hard edges make for an enjoyable, potentially complex wine to drink over the next 15 years. Score: 90 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2010-2025 30 April 2010 |

Minerals and a strong Cabernet Franc nose. Attractive aromatics and a bit more beef on the palate than some of its peers. Quite complete and confident with a beginning, middle and end, even if the fruit tastes as though it was picked pretty late. Perhaps not quite enough refreshment factor - almost some heat on the finish! Very unusual for 2007… Score: 16 Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2011-2016 10 April 2008 |

Natural berry fruit aromas. Medium weight. Supple on attack with mid-palate sweetness and supple texture. Has freshness on the finish. Lacks some intensity but a fine, harmonious wine. Drink 2012-2020. Score: 16 Decanter, - Maturity: 2012-2020 08 April 2008 |

Deep colour. Scented nose of pure berry fruit, earth and some pepperiness. Soft with moderate intensity of morello cherry and plum, vanilla cream and light spice. Balanced and clean. Score: 89 - 91 Albany Vintners, - 01 April 2008 |
