Tasting Notes

The 2007 Lafon Rochet has a lively and fresh bouquet with scents of blackberry, woodland and cigar box harmonious and gaining intensity in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, crisp acidity and fine cohesion. It might lack a little weight and it’s unapologetically foursquare, but it has a sense of style and class. Tasted March 2015.

Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2015-2023 30 June 2017

A light blackberry nose, quite leafy and with a little greenness. The palate is medium-bodied, lacking a little fruit concentration in the middle with a masculine, foursquare, slightly leafy finish. Lacks some depth and length but develops some freshness on the crisp finish.

Score: 85 - 87

Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com 08 April 2008

A dark plum/ruby color is followed by a fruity, soft 2007 offering notes of black currants, licorice, and incense. It is a round, medium-bodied, attractive effort to consume over the next 7-8 years.

Score: 87

Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2010-2018 30 April 2010

Bright ruby-red. Pungent, musky aromas of black cherry, licorice and shoe polish lifted by a violet topnote. Juicy and sweet but also firmly built, with decent purity of fruit but only modest flavor intensity. Finishes with solid tannic spine for the year. Nicely balanced, and very St. Estephe.

Score: 85 - 88

Stephen Tanzer, - 20 May 2008

Fragile, rather weak nose. Then soft for a St-Estèphe even if with quite a bit of acidity. Short and a bit harsh. Very marked acidity. Not the most successful vintage for this property.

Score: 15

Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2012-2017 10 April 2008

Good rich colour, very good concentration of blackcurrant fruit combining intensity and elegance, good ripeness with firm finish, should flesh out as it ages.

Score: 16

Decanter, - Maturity: 2013-2020 08 April 2008

Limpid ruby colour. Subdued aromatics of pretty blackcurrants and leaves. Cool and smooth with spicy black clean fruit and some richness. Light but quite elegant, and nicely balanced with a firm finish.

Score: 87 - 89

Albany Vintners, - 01 April 2008

Berry and spice character, with medium-to-light body, fine tannins and a short finish. Clean.
