Tasting Notes

Ripe and almost opulent, with lemon, pastry, apricot and spice elements that are broad on the attack. Though open now, there's a vibrant structure and a long finish. This was the better of three bottles. Best from 2012 through 2022. 107 cases imported.

This is notably more elegant, refined and complex with only a trace of exoticism to the mostly white flower and peach aromas that are followed by textured, pure, detailed and delineated flavors that are quite reserved and cool at present while culminating in a focused, crystalline, dry and driving finish. This does a slow build from the mid-palate before exploding onto the knockout finish. A Zen wine. Note that while I am giving a suggested initial drinking window of 2013, this will be capable of aging for years.

Allen Meadows, Burghound Maturity: 2013+ 01 July 2009

Discreet aromas of minerals and menthol, with a suggestion of toast. Much less sweet and full in the mouth than the Batard; in fact, this youthfully closed wine shows a considerably cooler aspect and is characterized by citrus and rocky flavors. In the context of this cellar-or most others in '06 for that matter-this is like tasting a wine from another vintage.

Fine, fresh and even quite delicate - very tightly laced at present. Superlatively energetic yet with sort of filigree texture and transparency. Very long and very fine.
