Tasting Notes

Bottled just after the harvest, the 2021 Chablis Grand Terroirs has a fragrant, quite earthy bouquet with Granny Smith apples and light estuarine scents. The palate is well-balanced with commendable depth, a crisp line of acidity and a taut and quite persistent finish. An accomplished Chablis Village.

The 2021 Chablis Grands Terroirs comes from three parcels. This has fine definition and mineralité on the nose with scents of flint and smoke. The palate is fresh on the entry with a fine bead of acidity, crisp and precise with an effervescent finish. Recommended. Quite simply, Samuel Billaud is one of the best producers in Chablis at the moment. If you have not discovered the wines, what are you waiting for?

Cool aromas include those of Granny Smith apples, iodine and plenty of citrus elements. On the palate the medium-weight flavors are impressively intense with solid volume and density, all wrapped in a markedly dry, highly complex and sneaky long finish. This is a very fine effort is excellent and especially so for its level though it will need at least a few years to unwind.

(5 star wine). Fine and pale colour, the bouquet is correct but discreet, while showing Samuel’s habitual finesse. Really quite steely on the palate with a little squeeze of citrus, and impeccable length. Another tribute to the brilliance of Samuel Billaud’s vinification. Drink from 2024-2027. Tasted: June 2022.
