Tasting Notes

There are vague Chablis-like elements on the nose of green apple, petrol, just sliced citrus, iodine and quinine. The rich, dense and exceptionally powerful big-bodied flavors manage to retain a certain refinement while delivering superb length on the balanced, bone-dry and stony finish. This moderately austere effort is also seriously good and has the structure to repay 12 to 15 years of keeping. In a word, excellent.

Score: 93 - 95

Allen Meadows, Burghound Maturity: 2033+ 01 October 2023

A low key lemon and lime colour. Clean fresh and classic on the nose. A very typical fresh stony palate, lightly washed in citrus, with enough flesh to provide the body necessary for ageing, and a fine, long, persistently mineral finish. Drink from 2027-2035. Tasted: November 2022

Score: 93 - 97

Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy Maturity: 2027-2035 01 November 2022

All 8 hectoliters of the 2021 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is maturing in one foudre. This has a light nose of apple blossom, Mirabelle and white peach, hints of camomile, focused if needing a bit more energy. The palate is well balanced with a citric, orange rind entry with pretty apricot notes towards its unassuming finish.

Score: 88 - 90
