Tasting Notes

Very tight and powerful, with lemon curd, honey, honeysuckle, vanilla bean and light toasty oak. Full-bodied, with a powerful layered palate. Super long and rich. This goes on for minutes. Amazing what develops in the glass.

Score: 95

James Suckling, Wine Spectator Maturity: 2013+ 31 March 2009

Displays excellent concentration and length of lemon, mineral and lime character. Full-bodied, with bright acidity.

Score: 89 - 91

James Suckling, Wine Spectator 01 April 2007

An absolutely textbook great white Graves made from 85% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Semillon and aged nine months on its lees, this is a prodigious effort displaying notes of white flowers, currants, honeyed citrus, fig, and crushed rocks. The wine is very pure, with full body and high acidity, in a backward, almost tannic style. Give this wine at least 8-10 years of cellaring and drink it over the following 30 years. (94+ points)

Score: 94

Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com Maturity: 2017-2047 01 February 2009

Pale, green-tinged color. Sexy aromas of ripe fresh peach and apricot lifted by grapefruit and chlorophyll. Sappy and sweet, but almost gentle after the young 2007 despite its vibrant flavors of crystallized lemon peel and pungent chlorophyll. Finishes very fresh and long, with impressive energy. Owner Olivier Bernard describes this wine as more classic and vivid than the 2007, which he believes has more volume, structure and power, but also more generosity of texture. This will be a spectacular pair of vintages to compare over the next two or three decades.

Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar 01 May 2008

Tasted at a negotiant. Much more reserved and stony on the nose compared to the other wines. Lime, a touch of oyster shell. Introverted. The palate has superb concentration and acidity with a crisp lime, white peach finish, Great length, Superb. Tasted April 2007.

Score: 93 - 95

Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, RobertParker.com 30 April 2007

Some light lemon and lanolin on the nose but less aromatic than most. Denser than most - quite fine with obvious layers. Lots of mineral quality and sinewy. Does not sing at this stage but it is pretty well constituted. Certainly not flashy! So introvert... And very very youthful.

Score: 17

Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com Maturity: 2013-2020 19 April 2007

87% Sauvignon Blanc, 13% Semillon aged in one third new oak. Light green gold. Attractive grassy nose with lots of lime, grapefruit zest and minerals in the middle before a long caramel finish. Very lively and zesty.
