Tasting Notes

unwinding in the glass with aromas of sweet citrus oil, crisp green apple, white flowers, hazelnuts and wet stones, the 2020 Meursault Blagny 1er Cru is medium to full bodied, satiny and layered, with excellent concentration, racy acids and chalky structuring extract. It's a blend of very old vines with a more recent planting.

A cool, elegant and more floral-suffused nose displays notes of green apple, spice and a hint of fennel. I very much like the texture of the succulent and caressing medium weight flavors that exude a refreshing salinity on the balanced and sneaky long finale.

The 2020 Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru is quite backward on the nose, opening gradually with petrichor and green apple scents. The palate is very well balanced with fine acidity, quite tangy and spicy with a vibrant and quite pesistent finish. This has great potential. Excellent.

Pretty lemon and lime colour. The robust bouquet needs a little aeration. This is on the muscular side. There is a wealth of mainly white fruit, one or two plums, with thick skins, almost a sense of tannin at the back. Just a question of further maturation, this is going to be a high class Meursault-Blagny with time – well worth a considerable wait. 92-95
