Tasting Notes

The 2020 Bourgogne Blanc offers up aromas of pear, waxy citrus fruit, orange zest, fresh bread and nutmeg, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny race palate that's concentrated, chaly and perfumed. As readers may remember, this cuvee der ies from a parcel owned by the commune of Meursault, optimally located above Grivault's Clos des Perrieres; and in 2020 it produced only 4 barrels.

This is also quite fresh with its blend of apple and pear ompote that is laced by hints of lime and floral wisps. The succulent and round mediumweight flavors possess a certain generosity that carries over to the delicious and lingering finish. Antoine Jobard was unequivocally enthusiastic about 2020 exclaiming that "I love this vintage! The key aspect about it, and this applies to both reds and whites, is how balanced they are. Happily, especially given the style of wines I want to make, the alcohols were reasonable at between 13 and 13.5% in both colours. Stylistically I would compare the reds to a mix of 2015 and 2016 vintages whereas the whites are more a blend of the 2014 and 2017 vintages." As the ratings and commentaries confirm, I was very impressed by the excellent results that Jobard achieved in 2020 and these are definitely wines to consider adding to your cellars.

The 2020 Bourgogne Blanc has a pretty bouquet with light apple blossom and citrus scents. The palate is well balanced with a slightly waxy texture, fine acidity, quite saline and penetrating on the finish. Very fine for a regional white.
