Very pale gold, with a marked toasted bread maturity. Quite open for a young Vat 1, with something akin to buttered macadamia alongside lemongrass and beeswax tones. But the palate is more reserved, suggesting another 5–7 years for the wine really to show itself. Crisp, with a classic lemon-lime tang, underpinned by a subtle hint of salinity. The acidity has a lot of length and there’s enough of a sense of extract here that suggests flavour will fill out there too over time, though this is unlikely to be a great Vat 1.
