Tasting Notes

The NV Extra Brut Rosé de Saignée Les Maillons (2016 base) is fabulous. Rich and expansive, with soaring aromatics, the Maillons is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty. The purity and intensity of the Pinot is so striking. Rich and dense, yet also wonderfully gracious, the Maillons is a total knock-out. It is a wine with tremendous personality and character. I loved it. Disgorged: March 1, 2020.

A stellar wine, Olivier Collin's NV (2014) Extra Brut Rosé de Saignée Les Maillons will leave readers weak at the knees. The 2014 is powerful and ample, yet also imbued with stunning aromatic intensity and energy. Positively arresting in its beauty and wonderfully complete, the Rosé de Saignée Les Maillons is a must-have wine. Dosage is 2.4 grams per liter. Disgorged: March, 2018.

The NV (2013) Extra Brut Rosé de Saignée Les Maillons is superb. A rush of lavender, rose petal, mint and bright red berry fruit races across the palate. Bright, chiseled and finely cut, the Rosé speaks with notable clarity. The laser-like style is hugely appealing. All of Olivier Collin's 2013s are special, but the Maillons has just a little bit more. Disgorged February 15, 2017.

The NV (2013) Rosé de Saignée Les Maillons is pretty and distinctive. This release was disgorged with 24 months on the lees (as opposed to the more typical 36 here), which has left the wine feeling a bit raw and rough around the edges. Cranberry, spice, dried flowers, rose petal and amaro herbs give the wine its signature aromatics. I would prefer to drink the Rosé sooner rather than later.
