Tasting Notes

A gentle dollop of wood easily allows the aromas of mineral reduction, petrol, citrus rind and passion fruit to be appreciated. There is fine mid-palate density to the caressing yet intense medium weight flavors that also exude noticeable salinity onto the balanced, delicious and slightly more complex finale. This delicious effort is rich enough to be enjoyed young but structured enough to reward short to mid-term cellaring. Outstanding

The 2017 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Ronchevats derives from Triassic clay soils and unwinds in the glass with aromas of ripe apples, lemon, pears and warm bread. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, with a charming, textural profile that's elegant and inviting.

The 2017 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Ronchevats has a touch more horsepower on the nose compared to the Vignes Blanches, albeit with the same delineation and complexity. It conveys the sense of place beautifully, whisking you down to the Mâconnais hills. The palate is beautifully balanced, with a fine bead of acidity and a precise, quite attacking finish with superb salinity. This is another excellent 2017 from the top drawer, courtesy of Saumaize-Michelin.
