Tasting Notes

The 2019 Doisy-Daëne has a delightful bouquet with dried honey, white peach and white chocolate scents, ample botrytis and concentration here. The palate is well-balanced with fine acidity, elegant with a touch of spice towards the finish. Lovely. Not quite the finest example tasted, but it will surely improve with bottle age as this Barsac is wont to do. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting.

The 2019 Doisy-Daëne has a gorgeous bouquet of wild honey, quince, saffron and touch of shucked oyster shell, intense and utterly seductive. The palate is well balanced, taut and fresh, with a fine bead of such perfectly pitched acidity that you barely notice the botrytized finish. An outstanding wine from Jean-Jacques Dubourdieu.

The 2019 Doisy-Daëne is uncharacteristically backward on the nose and demands coaxing, eventually revealing lovely clear honey, quince and sea spray/oyster shell scents. The palate is beautifully balanced with a fine line of acidity, taut and fresh with a weightlessness on the finish that contradicts its intensity. Not the best Doisy-Daëne ever, but still a tiny bit fab.

The 2019 Doisy-Daëne is a very pretty and inviting Barsac. Pineapple, mint, white flowers, spice and candied ginger give the 2019 its exotic flavor profile. There is a feeling of weightlessness that is so alluring. Silky contours extend the finish effortlessly. Superb.

The 2019 Doisy-Daëne is creamy, ample and resonant in the glass. Wild flowers, ginger, orchard fruit, pear and tangerine oil are some of the many strands that inform the 2019. Rich and yet also wonderfully light on its feet, the 2019 is hauntingly beautiful and impeccable in its balance.

Grilled gunsmoke, chargrilled peaches, with nectarine, apricot, apple tarte tatin, brioche and croissant flavours. This is bursting out of the glass with fruit flavour, gourmet and great quality, with a lime and orange zest finish.

Bright, zippy, successfully navigating away from being tart. This is a single-varietal Sauvignon Blanc, but this is a family that knows exactly how to handle this grape, and what you get here is fresh citrus alongside plenty of savoury rosemary and a lovely mineral juiciness on the finish.

Jane Anson, Decanter.com Maturity: 2021 - 2028 28 May 2020

The 2019 Doisy Daëne has seriously intense notes of pineapple upside-down cake, ripe apricots and lemon marmalade with hints of acacia honey, paraffin wax, orange blossoms and preserved ginger plus a waft of marzipan. The palate is rich, unctuous and boldly decadent, featuring layer upon layer of exotic fruits and spices, finishing with that signature freshness. A powerhouse!

Full-bodied with very spicy, dried-pear and honey character. Mango and toffee as well. It shows lots of intensity.
