Tasting Notes

A cool, pure and citrus-tinged nose speaks of oyster shell, iodine and discreet green apple nuances where there is a background hint of the exotic. There is a fine sense of energy to the crisp, minerally and racy flavors that deliver solid length on the very dry and citrusy but not really austere finish that already displays good complexity. This is a very good 2018. Outstanding

A cool, pure and citrus-tinged nose speaks of oyster shell, iodine and discreet green apple nuances. Lovely stuff and worth checking out.

The 2018 Chablis Vaillons 1er Cru has an attractive, forward nose of lemon verbena, chai tea and floral scents, peachy aromas following with aeration. The palate is well balanced with a twist of sour lemon on the entry. Slightly minty in style, it displays a fine bead of acidity, although I remain prudent with my score, as it does lack a bit of length.

The 2018 Chablis Vaillons 1er Cru is laced with strong mineral and earthy tones that are such a signature. Savory herbs, menthol, licorice, citrus peel and a touch of reduction are all woven together in a Chablis of real class and nuance. This is another wine in the range that is both dense and understated, with a real sense of aromatic lift.

Fevre's 2018 Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons was still a little troubled with suspended lees when I tasted it, so it's early days to make any definitive judgement, but this—along with Vaudésir—was the domaine's first pick this year, and it's certainly lively and elegantly textural, with chalky extract and good precision on the finish.
