Tasting Notes

Pale to medium lemon-gold colored, the 2018 la Tour Blanche is a little reticent to begin, opening out to notes of honeydew melon, nectarines and baked apples with touches of lightly browned toast, allspice and powdered ginger. The palate features loads of zip and zing with bags of freshness to counter the rich fruit, finishing on a lingering gingery note.

Score: 92 - 94

A Sauternes with pretty richness and a very sweet palate. Some spice at the end. Wait and see.

Score: 90 - 91

James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com 11 April 2019

This is enjoyable, with a concentrated golden colour and a clear spicy edge, full of white pepper and touches of dried herbs. The silky texture and rich fruit flavours dominate, giving a beautifully seductive start, but the aromatics fall behind. 100% new oak. A yield of 11hl/ha.

Score: 92

Direct, offering ginger and almond cream notes mixed with dried apricot and peach flavors.

Score: 90 - 93

James Molesworth, Wine Spectator 01 April 2019

The 2018 La Tour Blanche offers lovely precision and energy in the soft, open-knit style of the year. Pineapple, white flowers, mint and green apple notes show notable freshness in this pretty, delineated Sauternes.
