Tasting Notes

The Monbousquet 2018 Blanc is blended of 60% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Sauvignon Gris, 5% Sémillon and 5% Muscadelle. Grapes were harvested August 28-29 with yields of 45 hectoliters per hectare, 13.75% alcohol and a 3.37 pH. It leaps from the glass with frisky notes of fresh pineapple, white peaches, grapefruit and lemon curd with hints of lime leaves and spearmint. Medium-bodied, it fills the palate with bags of vibrant, exotic fruits and zesty layers, led by a racy line of acid and finishing long and chalky.

Lovely depth of fruit to this wine. Dense and very fleshy with lots of dried-apple, pineapple and grapefruit character in this mostly sauvignon blanc and sauvignon gris.

James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com 11 April 2019

Fleshy, juicy stone fruits are accompanied by tiny touches of white flowers through the mid-palate, help to lift and define it. You can really see the evolution of the style here, and it's all good. From just 1ha, yielding 45hl/ha. Aged in 50% new oak. 5% Muscadelle finishes the blend. 3.37pH.

Score: 92

Takes a creamier approach, with macadamia nut, yellow apple and verbena notes. Offers a stylish, flattering feel.

Score: 90 - 93

James Molesworth, Wine Spectator 29 March 2019

The 2018 Monbousquet Blanc is a beauty that offers lots of pear and pineapple notes as well as plenty of spice in a clean, medium-bodied, balanced style that carries plenty of depth. It's a refreshing white that also has plenty of body and richness.

Score: 89 - 91
